Printastic!

After a quick semester I finally have some work to put up. I wish I had more time to print and perfect some of these, but there's only so much you can do in 3 short hours once a week...

Printmaking!
My zinc plate (which I like more than my prints)
My First print, without edits
My horrible attempt at printing correctly

My best woodblock prints

Digital ImageryMagazine Covers
Magazine spreads

I have more work to show, but that will be posted in the coming weeks. I'm just bracing myself for the Holiday rush!

Fishing for More

To make up for the lack of posting, here's my most recent project that I'm sure I've shown most people. This was a contest to design a poster for FIT's Graphics Printing Lab. I know all rights go to them if it wins, but I'm not selling it. Here's the final without the information I needed to put on it: (click to enlarge for better viewing!)
Here's a close up

And here are some sketches prior to making the final:

Here is my rendition of the classic Taxi Driver movie poster: Its for my Digital Imagery class. I felt like it needed to be more plain than bloody because the movie was graphic enough.

During a book tour, J.K. Rowling revealed that Dumbledore was indeed gay. Surprising right? Check out the full article here.

Oapticl Iluslions

Here is a trippy video that my friend sent me. It encapsulates some cool optical illusions. Watch it here.

Here are some things I've been lulling over with my time at school:

Ad series for promoting travel to the U.S. using Humor, Surrealism, and Time

Advertisement utilizing fine art.

Postcard series for mock exhibition:

(the other two postcards were screwed up by blogspot)

Some drawings coming soon for all you traditional artists.

Pay as you wish.

The new Radiohead album can be downloaded upon release date on October 10, 2007. The catch, you PAY AS YOU WISH (in Euros of course). When I first heard this, I was shocked and confused, but Radiohead is always doing something crazy and new. I guess you can do anything with fame these days.

W T F?

I thought this would be a good billboard/ad campaign. Now for some random stuff that'll make you say W T F?:

I now have all the emails of FIT students courtesy of Phi Theta Kappa...

You can't beat this.

I think I want to try their shrimp tempura...

Some people are just trigger happy, like this guy here.

Scratch That

Here's the etching plate I'm working on in Printmaking. There's a border but it is yet to be complete. (Its brown because its tar on top of the etching plate)

Back it Up

"I own two plantations of yam."

Across the Universe

Across The Universe is a new film that is opening in select theaters tomorrow and nationwide on September 21st. Its a whimsical love story/musical that takes place in the 60's and incorporates the best of the Beatles. The trailer is on my previous post, it doesn't show off much of the film's whimsicalness, but check out the movie website for some previews! I really want to see it, anyone want to come with?

Also in theaters this week and next, will be Helvetica. Its a documentary about the ubiquitous typeface and the designers and people who use it. A must see for designers and gosh darn curious people. Open for 2 weeks only! I wish to see this as well!!

Across The Universe

I am quite excited about this movie. Beatles plus whimsical filming equals love.

Websites Galore!

This site is just too good its not to be missed for anyone who is an art or design major! (via doobybrain.com)

If you're feeling in the mood for building some abstract cardboard furniture for your overactive little brother or sister so they won't get their pajamies dirty while sitting on the floor of your 1 family suburban home, then check out foldschool.com

Here's a helpful site for those who don't have anywhere to display their portfolio, or are website-making-impaired. Coroflot displays your portfolio and information for companies to see. You can also search for jobs as well!

Hokusai on Levis!

Found on this cool site

What I'd do for a pair of jeans with Hokusai's The Great Wave printed on it. What'd I do for 30 pairs of jeans with Hokusai's The Great Wave enlarged on them!

CONTRAST contrast

Marker, Ink, Gesso
The first week of classes are over and I've produced more than I have during 3 months of summer vacation. Kinda sad... but I've found a renewed inspiration! After hours of enclosing myself in a marker scented environment, I'm ecstatic! More news later.
