Ban Water! and "My son is named @"

Penn and Teller is awesome.

Recently in China, a couple named their newborn son @. Yes, they named their son after the symbol used in your e-mail. I don't know if this is a good step forward in using symbols in names... or just plain ridiculous. "Hi my name is @ Chan!"

'Such Great Heights' covered by Ben Folds

This is what you get when you put the Postal Service, 50 guitarists, a band, and Ben Folds together in a big room.

Back in the Groove

Almost a whole summer has past and I haven't done anything artistic besides hoping the colors of my basement walls will match. This little doodle was done on Illustrator CS2. Just trying to get my graphic juices flowing again. Like most of my work, this is a work in progress. I was trying to see the possibilities of using a logo in an artistic sense. And it seems like everything I do can possibly get me sued...( (c)2007 Linkin Park Logo). The piece started like this:

Tornado Anyone?

UPDATE: 5:30 p.m. The local news and weather analysts confirmed that a tornado did hit in the Bay Ridge Area of Brooklyn. It was a F-2 or F-3 class tornado with 100- 200 mph winds. The highest class is F-5 with 300+ mph winds. Luckily no one was severely injured.

After falling asleep at 3 a.m. this morning, I was abruptly awoken by the biggest thunder storm I've seen this year. Hot and sticky, I couldn't fall back asleep at 6 in the morning, so I popped open my t.v. to listen in on the storm report. Around 6:40 a.m. there was a tornado warning over Brooklyn. I watched the circle move over the screen indicating the tornado in the atmosphere. right when it got over my part of Brooklyn, it got really dark and quiet for a moment. OH SHIT! The trees bent sideways outside and I ran to get everyone into the basement. When it blew over, this was the scene outside:

My backyard fence was blown over. That board was held with thick wire...All the chairs and some of the gutter laid in ruinsThe neighborhood cat decided to rummage through the
rubble in my front yardWalking my sis to the trainstation
The fence bordering the school was completely blown over

Every 3 steps was a tree branch on the ground
The black thing on the side of the school is actually
a piece of roofing from across the street
A little bit of chaos in the train station and in Bay Ridge, where most
of the trees there are on the ground

I think Al Gore might be on to something about global warming...

HEROES!

One of my favorite shows is coming back SEPTEMBER 24, 2007!!!! Mark your calendars! The show will air at its normal time Monday nights at 9pm, and will be online for your replaying pleasure! The first season is also coming out on DVD August 28th! I would die to get my hands on that box set! I also watched the Comic Con 2007 panel for Heroes in which many of the stars sat down to answer questions! It is seriously funny, seriously informative, and seriously long! The videos are up on Youtube, but are sectioned into about 7 parts! You can catch the whole panel here (thanks goaliejedi35!) There is also a video with the preview of Season 2 floating around on Youtube, but the quality is not to die for! I'm so excited that every sentence needs to end with and exclamation!!! I CAN'T WAIT!! I now have something to live for!

Here are some links to get you pumped!:

Adventures in 'Nowhere Land'

For the past few Saturdays, I've been visiting Queens with my family. My sis has been seeing an acupuncturist who 'many' 'claim' to be 'good.' So while waiting for my sis to get stabbed, and cupped with small glasses that leave a hickey mark, I took the opportunity to take some photos. However, this is all I got:

Besides the scorching heat and mundane similarities, Queens did provide some amusement for this curious Brooklynite!

Only in Queens will you find corn stalks growing on the sidewalk.
And the corn doesn't even look too great...

Big cups of noodles on edifices are a plus!

And apparently A Vegetable is a popular Tiwanese cuisine.

This is a giant billboard on the bridge overhang on Main Street. It made me sigh and chuckle at the same time...

(I found the desert photo on google somewhere, so don't sue me!)
