Artsy Farmers

2007
Each year farmers in Aomori, Japan grow crop art from their rice fields. Every year they grow a different image and pattern. They plant purple and yellow leaved plants in certain areas to create the images. Some are grown skewed so it will appear normal at eye level. This beats crop circles any day! You can see more here.

In other news, The Kowloon Emperor has passed away recently. His last artwork lies beside him on his death bed. His work is being photographed and collected for display in Russia(?). I've researched his work and his life so it saddens me to see him pass. Even though he may be crazy, he was always popular with the residents of Kowloon and street artists of the world.

Siren Festival!

This year's Siren Festival was a disappointment compared to last years. There were little free swag, and not too many major bands. However there were some high points and good photo opportunities! I'm glad I saw We Are Scientists up close.

Simpsons!

There's Simpsons fever going around! Now you can make your own Simpsons avatar on their movie website. They've really outdone themselves promoting the new movie. I just hope its going to be great with all this hype!

Converse?

I recently bought a pair of bootleg Converses. They fit better and is a whole lot more comfortable than real Converses. They also cost half the price too! I've been working on adding a few touches here and there. Here's the progress:

While shopping for shoes I noticed the Converse Product(Red) campaign. I must say, that their new line of (Red) shoes are rather attractive. The way they use text all over their shoes is refreshing. Not many shoe companies use text for designs. Here are some of my favorites:

Lightwriting

Sorry about all the video posts with lights, but this one is a more artistic and better executed piece.

The Cellar

For the past week and a half I've been painstakingly cleaning and throwing away junk in my basement. I want to create a more livable space down there. I've been wanting to do clean it out and "renovate" it for a few years but never found the time to. But with an extra long summer, and no job (sucks) I've started to push the start button. It ceases to amaze me how many plastic bags, paper bags, plastic rice bags, handbags, and a wide assortment of other containers my family has collected over the years. They probably number in the thousands. I don't even want to mention bags of cloth... But there has been progress with the project.

This is what it looked like as of Monday. I hope it will turn out something like this (but with better color and perspective):

There's also a big mold problem that called for a Super Macro Photo moment:

On a personal note, I've been stressed from work on this project as well as people. I wanted to take a break from society, but it keeps pulling me back in. Its a confusing and uncomfortable feeling. I need to get away, yet I need to talk to someone. And problems, no, situations are just building up and no one is willing to give in. I guess when you grow older, you notice more of the bad sides of people than the good, which really sucks. Things get too complicated and someone has to un-complicate them...
